The Executive Hire Show's History With Obart Pumps

Obart have attended the Executive Hire Show and its predecessors every year, without interruption since 1975. This week, we would have been exhibiting in Coventry, however due to the pandemic, the show had to be postponed. 

This hire industry show is a key event in our yearly agenda and the show we look forward to the most. 

The hire trade show began as Hirex as was first held at a hotel in Wembley in the mid 70s, and via the Wembley Conference Centre, Earls Court Arena and then the Birmingham NEC.   It is now hosted at the Ricoh Arena. This is a 65,000 sq ft exhibition hall and hosts over 150 exhibitors yearly. 

In 1992, we were amongst five other companies who were awarded for taking part in the show for over 10 years, but now no other company has attended more of these shows than we have.

For two years when there was no Hirex, we took part in the Hire Alliance Show, which was linked to the HAE (Hire Association Europe), then in 2003, a new hire trade show was launched, which is what is known today as the Executive Hire Show.  We are very proud of our constant support for the hire trade by being at all these shows

Our Managing Director, Matthew Hill, has been attending the show himself as an exhibitor since January 1987, and has not missed a single show. He said ‘it has and always will be a lot of hard work exhibiting at a hire show, but we still love every minute of it and feel sad every time we dismantle the stand at the end of the show’.

   

Trade shows are a key aspect of many businesses and are ideal to present new products and maintain contact with our customers.’ Matthew also says that this year he will miss chatting to the characters from the hire industry & the orders he takes, after a bit of elbow twisting on prices! 

Samantha, our Customer Services Co-Ordinator has also expressed her enjoyment of the show, attending for the past two years. ‘The show is a great opportunity to spend extra time with current and potential customers, extra time we may not have on a usual day to day in the office. It’s also great to speak to our neighbouring stand holders, creating a sense of community during the show.’ 

It is disappointing for us as a company and the hire industry in general, to miss out on the Executive Hire Show this year. The show has been rescheduled for the 9th and 10th of February 2022.
